Renewable Energy Powered Desalination in Bequia

Epsilon's design for a solar and wind powered seawater reverse osmosis system was implemented by the World Bank and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre.

Client
World Bank
Partners
Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC)
Location
Paget Farm, Bequia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The Challenge

Small island communities depend on desalination for drinking water, but diesel-powered plants are expensive and vulnerable to fuel supply disruptions.

What We Did

Epsilon completed the seawater reverse osmosis system design, the solar and wind power potential assessment, and the renewable energy powered system design.

Results

  • Grid-connected, PV powered desalination system implemented by the World Bank and the CCCCC
  • Now supplying potable water to the fishing and whaling community of Paget Farm
